Mean librarian salaries up 2% in 2008
Analysis of data from more than 1,010 public and academic libraries showed that the mean salary for librarians with ALA-accredited master’s degrees increased 2% from 2007, up $1,151 to $57,809. The median ALA MLS salary was $53,251, and salaries ranged from $22,000 to $331,200. Results are reported in the 2008 edition of the ALA-APA Salary Survey: Librarian—Public and Academic, published by the ALA–Allied Professional Association….

Congratulations on the Berkeley job; once you get used to showering and dressing for work again I bet you’ll love it there. I’ve been peeking in on your blog for a while now, and I’m glad to see you and Victor and Arty all seem happy.
Being a mean librarian could be fun (how do they employ their meanness, now that it’s not de rigeur to shush library patrons? Take away their keyboards? Hide the book they’re looking for?), especially if they earn 2% more than the nice ones.

Hi Everyone-
“Save the Date” info postcards will be mailed out by this weekend. However, I really need people to send me as many mailing addresses and email addresses as they could for any and all class members that you might have…please remember to include maiden names for the ladies! Please send the info even if you think you might have already as I am compiling everyone into an excel spreadsheet and there are 450+ classmates to contact!!!!
I appreciate everyone’s patience and I am excited that we finally have some tangible info to actually send out!!!
